“The reason is simple: my professional circumstances have changed,” he wrote in an email sent to USEF members. “While I am confident that I can successfully balance my leadership positions at both USEF and at Perrigo, a multi-national company, as its President and Chief Executive Officer for my final year as USEF President, I believe this would be difficult to sustain for the long term.”
Kessler was elected in June of 2016 as the 14th president of the USEF, and he took office in January 2017. According to the USEF by-laws, the president is elected at the USEF Mid-Year Meeting by the USEF board of directors and serves four-year terms. The next president will be elected this summer and will take office in January 2021.
